My Entry for the Unity Club Wildflower Show Art Contest

Honestly, this annual event is something I dread. I struggle to draw flowers, I don't understand them!! I tend to rush my process, and do it without care. But this year, I wanted to try, to learn to draw flowers properly!
The biggest difference of this year was my use of proper references, taking more time to learn, and keeping my project simple. I did this in a few ways.
1. I used a wildflower book of native flowers as a reference. This book was especially helpful because it contained scientific drawings of each flower. This way, I could analyse the shapes, and properly learn to draw flowers.
2. I gave myself three class periods to learn to draw a chosen flower, which ended up being Pink Stickseed.
3. I kept everything simple. Drawing flowers is difficult, so I kept everything else easy. I used pencils to sketch and colored pencils in my final product because they art mediums I am comforrtable in.
Given this is my first time really slowing down to draw flowers, I'm not really satisfied with my result, but I'm proud of my progress! I look forward to contiuing practice, more methodically!
