In classic Halloween fashion, I had two days until Halloween, and no costume ready. At this point, I'm not all too phased- that's just the Halloween way dude! So I grabbed a sheet from my closet, and rolled up to art class. I was going to be Frank-N-Furter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, specifically in the scene he's dressed up in a hospital gown and gloves.
I kept my technique really simple, I folded the fabric over itself as to have two layers, and had my friends trace my body while I laid down. I'm so grateful Aster was there, because they mentioned I should expand my legs as to make leg room. I appreciated that one when trick or treating!
After tracing my body, I used my sweater to referencemy arm lengths, and made cutouts of that as well. It was pretty sloppy in the end, but functional!
I could only do so much sewing in class, so I went over to Aster's to use their machine and finish the job. It's always a little sloppy remembering how to orient the fabric in order to get a good sewing job- but luckily my task was a pretty simple one. I generally just had to go around the edges, skipping the hand holes and head hole. The only tricky part is connecting the arms to the body, but I took it slow and kept my eye on the fabric I didn't want to accidentally sew down.
In the end, this may be one of my favorite Halloween costumes! Got some great use along AV Way and at the grange!
