The Face

The face! For this project, I wanted to create a creepy ceremic face with eyes that seem to follow you...spooky! I created this effect by creating a ceremic face with open eyeholes, and drawing pupils and eyeballs behind it

I've done similar ceremic projects to this one in the past, but this one felt especially satisfying. In the realm of recreating faces with clay, I've done two similar projects. One, based it off a photo I saw on Pinterest of a troll mug. That one gave a really cool result- but it didn't feel that original- being based off another artist's work. The other, I attempted to recreate the face of Leonardo Da Vinci, but the beard threw me off.

For this project, I started by studying facial plane diagrams, and slowly perfecting the angles (such as the angle of the nose to the forehead). It took me a couple weeks, but by the end I had a result I was satisfied with! The issues came as I set it to dry, and it broke apart in two locations. I attempted to fix this with glaze, but it wasn't strong enough to hold it together. This wasn't much of an issue though, it added to the creepiness factor! :D
