Similar to the other required artifacts I created this year, I created a collage! My book was called "Salvation: Black People and Love", and was a social commentary on the role of love in black culture. It was really interesting, a collection of various essays on different hardships in African American culture, and how love can address them.
One of the issues mentioned in the book was food addiction, and high diabetes rates in Black Americans. I decided to create a collage on various foods, and tie it together with a written quote in the center. It was a simple process of cutting images and gluing them down, and it resonated well with the theme I wantes to address!
